Treatment of Femoral Neck Fractures by Primary Bipolar Endoprosthesis Replacement

Abstract
The fracture of femoral neck is common injury in elderly patients. Recently, the incidence this injury is increasing due to prolongation of average life span. The method of treatment this injury to reduce the mortality and complications is
variable, and
the controversy of choice of the treatment modality still exists. The authors clinically analysis 15 cases of patients with femoral neck fracture over the age of 75 years.
These patients were treated with primary bipolar endoprosthesis replacement from August 39 to December 1992 and all these cases were followed for more than 6 months.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The average age of the patients were 79.5 years. (I : F=1 : 14).
2. The most common cause of the fracture was slip down.
3. the most common fracture type was subcapital and Garden stage IV. Especially, the glected cases were relatively large amount of the all cases (27%).
4. The duration from injury to operation was 17.2 days.
5. the associated disease on admission was existed in 12 cases. the most common disease hypertension in 4 cases.
6. The mortality rate within 6 months after operation was 27%(4 cases).
7. The satisfactory results were obtained in 6 cases.
